Work through advertising after a trip
A stack of mail after a trip should be sorted before you submit anything. A piece from a sender you already contacted does not mean that request failed.
Sorting and submitting from a backlog
- Pull out important mail first, then sort the advertising by the dates on the pieces.
- Compare sender names with your list of requests from before the trip, and set aside pieces from senders you already submitted.
- For each sender with no earlier submission, pick the clearest recent copy and photograph it, then submit one photo per sender.
- Keep a few pieces from already-submitted senders so you can see whether those senders keep mailing after a good wait.
What backlog copies tell you
Mail printed and sent before a request reaches the sender will arrive anyway. Submitting every copy in the backlog uses up your allowance on the same sender and does not speed anything up. One clear submission per sender, plus a dated list, gives you something to check against later.
Setting expectations after the trip
Sorting a backlog is a one-time job. After that, your regular weekly check should keep you current. For a sense of timing, see the guide to timing and follow-up.

Have an unwanted advertisement ready?
Photograph one piece you are authorized to handle, with the sender and full mailing label visible. Review the details before submitting. The first request is free; the sender controls the response.
